12/23/2012 – All Post Offices will be open and regular mail

leave a comment »

Post Offices nationwide will be open Christmas Eve, Monday, December 24th, 2012, and New Year’s Eve, Monday, December 31st, 2013. Most will shorten retail lobby hours and close at

    12:00 Noon

on these dates. Regular mail delivery will be unaffected by the change.

Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office and commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Entry Units for specific information regarding holiday hours of operation.
Blue collection boxes having final collection times before 12:00 p.m. will not be affected by these changes.

However, collection boxes with final collection times scheduled after that may be collected early. Therefore, mail should be deposited into these mailboxes by 12:00 p.m. for early pick-up on December 24th and December 31st, 2012.

Customers requiring postal services later on those days are encouraged to contact their local Post Office.

Customers also may call 800-ASK-USPS for additional information.

Post Offices will be closed December 25th, 2012, and January 1st, 2013. Express Mail only will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

All Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume December 26th, 2012, and January 2nd, 2013.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.

leave a comment »

Monday, Dec. 10th, 2012 – Christmas Jubilee and Parade in Guin, Marion County, AL

The holiday’s are near. Plan now to attend some wonderful community events!

There will be a Christmas Jubilee on Dec 10th, at the Armory. A silent auction will be held and Santa will be visiting and available for pictures. Booths are available for anyone wanting to sell crafts. The Jubilee will open at 3:00 pm that day. Entertainment and a chili/soup supper will begin after the parade. For every 5 canned items you bring in (or you can purchase a ticket for a dollar) you will be entered into a drawing for $50.00. $250.00 (total) will be given away!

The drawing is sponsored by the Guin Chamber of Commerce and all proceeds from the drawing, booth space rental and the soup supper will benefit Santa’s Workshop. It’s for a great cause so come out and help make Christmas special for your family as well as someone else’s.

The Guin Christmas Parade will begin at 6:00 pm on the 10th with line-up beginning at 5:30 pm at Plaza BBQ in the shopping center. The parade will finish at the high school and at that time everyone is then encouraged to go to the armory to continue our holiday Jubilee.
