7569389076_326bd7e014_zDecatur, Ala. – Each year, thousands of visitors head to Eva, Ala. located off of Interstate 65, for a week of old-fashioned fun and games. Set for September 21-28, 2013, the annual Eva Frontier Days offer eight days of wholesome family-friendly entertainment where festivities include a greased pig chase, a frog jumping contest, a parade, antique tractors, a hayride, and much more.

The week-long event kicks off with a beauty pageant Saturday, September 21st at 10 a.m. at Journey Church. At 3 p.m. there will be a bluegrass jam session at Eva School, and a bluegrass festival with Stan Nelson & Hurricane Creek is slated for 6 p.m. (Admission charged for all three events.) On Tuesday, September 24th at the Eva Saddle Club Arena, there will be an old-fashioned hayride beginning at 6 p.m. Cost is $1 per person and includes a free hotdog and coke. The public is also invited to a free community singing at Bethel United Methodist Church on September 26th beginning at 7 p.m. Music on the Square is slated for Friday evening, September 27th. (Time and bands TBA.)

The fun continues on Saturday, September 29th beginning at 9 a.m. with an Antique Tractor Show and Car Show, parade, an arts and crafts show, a Best Dressed Contest, pig calling contest, and a baking contest. Along with food vendors, there will be an assortment of games and activities for all ages. The day wraps up at the ball fields with the frog jumping contest at 4 p.m. followed by the greased pig chase at 5 p.m.
