UPDATE: The body of drowning victim, Issac Linzer, was found by searchers around 4pm Monday.
PHIL CAMPBELL – The search for the body of a teenager has been suspended for the night following a drowning accident Sunday afternoon.
The drowning happened at Bates Landing near Phil Campbell when an 18 year old male was swimming with his father and other family. Witnesses said the 18 year old male, Issac Linzer, was jumping off a 15 foot rock across from the boat ramp. Witnesses said they saw him surface briefly and start to swim back to the rock but went under before he made it and never resurfaced.
Onlookers who witnessed the incident called 911 at approximately 3pm and rescue crews were dispatched. Emergency crews from The Franklin County Sheriff’s Dept, Phil Campbell Police Dept, Phil Campbell Rescue Squad, Franklin County Dive Team, Russellville Fire & Rescue, Alabama Game & Fish, Bear Creek Development Authority, Haleyville Fire & Rescue, Phil Campbell Fire Dept and East Franklin Fire Dept responded to assist in rescue and recovery efforts.
Search efforts are to continue Monday.
