11/12/2014 – Three Days of Holiday Cheer atop Lookout Mountain – Mentone’s Holiday Open House is set for November 28-30.

Mentone, Ala. (November 12, 2014) – High atop Lookout Mountain in northeastern Alabama sits a quiet town boasting unique shops ready to welcome the holiday season. The shops of historic Mentone will host a town-wide Holiday Open House on Thanksgiving weekend offering three days of festive shopping and holiday cheer in one of the state’s most scenic areas.

Set for November 28-30, 2014, shoppers will be greeted with a downtown area decked out for the holiday season. Located throughout Mentone are over two dozen trendy boutiques, antique shops and art galleries where shoppers can browse for locally made gifts, unique items, holiday decorations and other treasures, all within a 1/3-mile area. Shoppers will enjoy a mountain village atmosphere, but without the crowds for a more personal Christmas shopping experience.

Many of the shops will serve refreshments and offer special giveaways during the three-day event, and with plenty of locally owned eateries, visitors can refuel from the day of shopping before heading home.

The Log Cabin Village will offer their annual Christmas party with decorations, music, refreshments and a visit with Santa Claus. The historic Mentone Inn will open its doors for visitors to enjoy a break from shopping with a cup of hot cider and a cozy fire. Free tours will also be offered and for sports enthusiasts, college football will be televised in the parlor. The Mentone Farmer’s Market, offering fresh vegetables, baked goods, canned specialties and more, will be open in the Mentone Inn’s parking lot on Saturday, November 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

During the Holiday Open House, plenty of free parking will be available. Most businesses will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
