06/26/2015 – Office of the Governor of Alabama – Governor Bentley Releases Statement on Same-Sex Marriage Ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court
MONTGOMERY—Governor Robert Bentley on Friday released a statement on the same- sex marriage ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Governor’s statement is below.
“I have always believed in the Biblical definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman. That definition has been deeply rooted in our society for thousands of years. Regardless of today’s ruling by the Supreme Court, I still believe in a one man and one woman definition of marriage. The people of Alabama also voted to define marriage as between a man and woman. I always respect the people’s vote, and I am disappointed that the Supreme Court has disregarded the choice made by the people of Alabama in its decision today.”

06/02/2015 – Alabama’s Free Fishing Day Scheduled for June 6, 2015
Each calendar year, the Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources designates a “Free Fishing Day” for the public to fish recreationally in public waters without a fishing license. Saturday, June 6, 2015, had been designated as Free Fishing Day.
There is an exemption of the usual fishing license requirement on that day. Some lakes may still require fees and permits, and owner’s permission is required to fish private ponds.
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Patrol, Marine Resources, State Parks, State Lands, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
The 2015 National Fishing and Boating Week is June 6-14, 2015.
