New Assembly of God to Locate in Hamilton

PRESS RELEASE

A New Assembly of God Church Coming to Hamilton

Just a brief note from Dr. Johnny Mays. In my autobiography titled, “Leaving Woods Creek” I share the story of my life and relationship to Marion County and Hamilton, Alabama. Many of you have heard my testimony and preaching. Now after forty-five years of Global Ministry, God has called me back to my hometown of Hamilton, Alabama.

I have recently received confirmation from the Assembly of God Headquarters in Montgomery and their Board of Church Planting and Development to partner with me in the launching of an Assembly of God Church here in Hamilton.

My mission is to develop a team of dedicated preachers, teachers, musicians, and singers to minister together in the “Call of God.” Together we will invite the unchurched believers, as well as those people in our area who are living without the influence of a life-giving, gospel-centered church to join our fellowship.

Someone recently has asked me why we need another church, as they say, “We have so many now.” My answer is, “I thank God for every Bible-believing and the Christ-centered church we have. Our new team wants to join their efforts to impact Marion County for eternity through a new Assembly of God Church which will demonstrate their love for God, their love for people and to share their hope found in Jesus Christ.”

The history of the Assembly of God is stellar and to God be the glory. Today there are more than thirteen thousand Assembly of God churches in the United States with more than three million members and adherents. Worldwide, the Assemblies of God has more than sixty-seven million members and is the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world. Truly we are reaching people out of every nation.

There is a reason for our success in touching the world. It is the result of the favor God has given us, for our vision is simple. We are committed to the following core values.

We passionately proclaim, at home and abroad, by word and deed Jesus as Savior, Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, Healer, and Soon Coming King.

We strategically invest in the next generation.

We vigorously plant new churches and revitalize existing ones.

We skillfully resource our Fellowship.

I request all who are Christians to please, fervently pray for God’s favor and His help as we serve Him with pure hearts and noble purpose. If any may be interested in more information call me, Johnny Mays @ (209) 479-2757 or email me @ johnnymays@gmail.com

Sip and Shop in Downtown Athens

Athens, Ala. – On Saturday, December 8, 2018, everyone is invited to sip, shop and celebrate the holiday season in downtown Athens during the annual Sippin’ Cider Festival. From 5 to 8 p.m., winter’s favorite drink will take center stage and there will be special activities for children, visits with Santa Claus, shopping among local merchants and other family-friendly fun.

During the Sippin’ Cider Festival, participating merchants will prepare and offer sample tastings of their favorite hot cider recipe. Cider enthusiasts will vote by ballot for their favorite, and the cider receiving the most votes wins the coveted Cider Cup and bragging rights for the year. The ballots will also serve as an entry to one of many door prizes to be given away.

While sipping on cider, guests can tackle their Christmas shopping and browse for unique holiday decorations. Merchants of downtown Athens will serve up plenty of gift ideas and special sales throughout the evening. Additional activities include festive holiday music, roasting marshmallows for s’mores and a visit by Santa Claus.

Now in its eighth year, Sippin’ Cider is hosted by Athens Main Street. For more information, contact Athens Main Street Executive Director Tere Richardson at 256.232.9040 or tererichardson@athensmainstreet.org.
