There is a threat for severe thunderstorms from 4 PM Monday until 7 AM Tuesday across Central Alabama. Tornadoes, damaging straight line winds, and large hail are all possible. Please refer to the graphic above for specifics.
Possible Severe Weather for Monday (December 16, 2019) – Marion County EMA
There is a threat for severe thunderstorms on Monday in the afternoon and evening from 2 pm until 2 am across Central Alabama. Tornadoes, damaging straight line winds, and quarter size hail are all possible.
Weather Update – Marion County EMA
A wintry mix is possible this afternoon and tonight across the far northern counties. Accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch of snow and a trace of sleet are possible, with the highest chances in Marion and Winston Counties. No signficant impacts are expected, but any leftover moisture on surfaces will freeze overnight across the far northern counties.
Where: Along and north of a line from Vernon to Warrior to Centre.
When: Now through 2 AM tonight.
Impacts: Any snow accumulations will mainly be less than 1/4 inch, mainly on grassy surfaces, along with trace amounts of sleet. Isolated 1/4 to 1/2 inch amounts cannot be ruled out, mainly in Marion and Winston Counties. Only impacts will be the potential for any leftover moisture on surfaces to freeze during the overnight hours.
