Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota won the 2014 Heisman Trophy. Presented by the Downtown Athletic Club in New York City Saturday night. Second was Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon and finishing third was Alabama receiver Amari Cooper.
2014 Heisman Trophy Voting Results were:

12/13/2014 – ALABAMA WINS ALL-STAR CLASSIC FOOTBALL AGAINST MISSISSIPPI
Montgomery, AL – Alabama defeats Mississippi 36 – 30 in the 28th annual All-Star Football Game played at Crampton Field in Montgomery, Alabama today!
The game was tied at 30 – 30 until a “hail-mary” pass was thrown by Alabama All-Stars quarterback Tyler Cameron to receiver Justin Johnson who came down with the ball in the end zone, and all this in the last 11 seconds of the 4th quarter of the game. A cliffhanger until the end!

The Marion County Red Raiders Advance to Round Number 4 after a resounding 56 – 22 win over Cedar Bluff!
They will play Hubbertville at 7:00 p.m., at Hubbertville, this Friday, November 28th, 2014. The winner of this game will advance, and on December 4th, will play the winner of the game this week between Billingsly vs. Maplelsville in the Championship Game in 1A Region 6 League.

The College Football Playoff Committee released the newest College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday, November 18th, 2014.

Winners of the two games will then advance to the National Championship game in Arlington, Texas on January 12th, 2014.
The committee, made of former players, coaches, and administrators, will meet on Monday’s and Tuesday’s to produce the rankings. Every Tuesday, leading up to the final rankings December 7th, 2014, the Committee will release its poll.

Guin, AL – Lane Harris, of Guin, Alabama, received the First Place Trophy in his age group Saturday, June 14th, 2014, in the Youth Bass Masters Fishing Tournament at the Marion County Lake.
Lane is the son of Jacky and Bobbie Webb Harris of Guin, Alabama and the grandson of Janice Nichols Webb and the late Donald Travis Webb. (He is also the grand-nephew of Judy Webb Mays.) We are all very proud of Lane for being a fine young man! Congratulations Lane!

The Marion County Lake, located in Marion County, Alabama, between Guin and Hamilton, Alabama, holds the Youth Bass Masters Fishing Tournament each year on the second Saturday in May. This year it had to be postponed due to bad weather.
