10/31/2014 – Last Block Party Will Be Trunk-or-Treat – Downtown Hamilton, AL
FROM THE HAMILTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Here’s the information you’ve been waiting on! Here are the details for Friday night’s (October 31st) Trunk or Treat and final Aggie Block Party in downtown Hamilton.
Barricading: Downtown Hamilton will be barricaded beginning at 5 p.m.
Time/Ages: The Trunk or Treat will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Children should be ages newborn to 12 years old and in costume to participate in the Trunk or Treat.
Costume Contest: There will be a costume contest at 7:45 p.m. at the southwest corner of the court square. Age groups will be newborns to 2 years old, 3 to 6, 7 to 9, 10 to 12. There will be a first place award for each of the age groups which will consist of a small gift card or similar prize.
Registration: ALL children who attend the Trunk or Treat event must come to the Chamber registration table located by Spann/Slatton Law Firm, where their hand will be stamped, and they will be given a list of participating businesses which they will take to each participating entity as they “trunk or treat.” Children who wish to participate in the costume contest will register at the Chamber table when the receive their “list.”
Aggie Block Party: The Aggie Block Party will begin at 8 p.m. and last until 10 p.m. First Born Sons will be playing the final block party of the year. We do encourage all of the attendees to dress up for the block party! Many of our downtown merchants will be open to celebrate Halloween, the Trunk or Treat, and a great Aggie season.

Depot Days Festival Rolls into Hartselle September 20
Decatur, Alabama – Hosted by the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce, the Depot Days Festival rolls into downtown Hartselle September 20, 2014, bringing a day of family fun to the quaint downtown area. The festival has been a tradition in the community for the past 33 years and features a full day of live music, art, food, children’s rides and games, and more.
The Depot Days Festival gets underway at 8 a.m. and lasts all day until the music stops. Along with live music, the annual event offers a car, truck and motorcycle show, an arts show, crafts, a tractor and engine show, and a variety of fun and games for children covering a five-block area of downtown Hartselle. Admission is free.
Also on Saturday, the College Street Players will present the Great Bank Robbery re-enactment at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center. Show times are at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. (Admission charged.)
The Half-Marathon, a partnership between the Depot Days Festival and the Hartselle Kiwanis Club, returns in 2014 after a successful debut during last year’s event. Race time is set for 7 a.m. at Quail Creek Golf Resort and Convention Center. For more information, visit http://www.hartsellekiwanisclub.org/half-marathon/.
Additional activities leading up to the 34th annual event include the Miss and Master Depot Days Pageant at the Sparkman Civic Center on September 13th, a community worship service with hymn and gospel singing on September 14th, “Down Memory Lane” program at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center on September 15th, and a concert by the Hartselle High School choral department in the Hartselle High School auditorium on September 18th.
The annual event pays tribute to the history of the railroad and its contribution to the growth and development of Hartselle and north Alabama area. Joan Rivers has died at the age of 81.
Comedian, TV personality Joan Rivers has passed away Thursday, September 4th, 2014, at the age of 81. This marks the end of a career that spanned decades.
Her death comes after she stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest during a minor surgery procedure August 28th, 2014, at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital.
CNN reports she died at 1:17 p.m. ET, surrounded by her family.
