07/30/2011 Hamilton PD Busts Local Indoor Marijuana Grow Lab

HAMILTON – On Friday, July 29, 2011, the Hamilton Police Department discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation at 335 First Avenue SW.  Police following up on investigative leads regarding narcotics activity at the residence had obtained a search warrant earlier in the day.  When the warrant was served, Police discovered several mature marijuana plants being grown in a closet within the residence.  The closet had been configured for the cultivation of the plants and had a system of timed lighting, temperature and humidity control.  Jeremiah Johnson, a 36 year old white male occupant of the residence was arrested and charged with felony manufacturing of a controlled substance and marijuana possession.  He was placed in the Marion County Jail.  The plants along with other evidence of a manufacturing operation were seized.

 

(All persons charged with a crime are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The charges are merely an accusation unless otherwise stated.)

07/21/2011 – Two Alabama Community Banks Receive $35.2 Million to Help Small Businesses Access Capital, Create New Jobs

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that two Alabama community banks received a total of $35.2 million through the Small Business Lending Fund (SBLF). The SBLF, which was established as part of the Small Business Jobs Act that President Obama signed into law, encourages community banks to increase their lending to small businesses, helping those companies expand their operations and create new jobs.
