11/12/2014 – Probate Judge Rocky Ridings Congratulates Newest Member of Commission, Hamilton, Marion County, AL

IMG_6922.JPGMarion County Probate Judge, Rocky Ridings congratulates the newest member of the Marion County, AL. Commission. Roger Knight, of Hackleburg, Alabama, fills the District 4 vacated by long standing Commissioner, Don Barnwell.

Running on the Democratic ticket, Barnwell lost his bid for the seat held by Republican incumbent, Mike Millican in the Alabama State House of Representatives.

Four members of the commission were incumbents with only one new member, District 4, Roger Knight. The five recently elected members of the Marion County Commission took their Oath of Office today and were sworn in by Judge John Bentley, from the state’s 25th Judicial Circuit, which includes Marion and Winston counties.

Sworn in today for District 1 was Kenneth “Kenny” Jackson; District 2, Eddie Byrd; District 3, Roger Knight; District 4, Michael “Mike” Davis; and District 5, Bob Burleson.

After the swearing in, the meeting was short. Chairman, Byrd called the meeting to order, the pledge of allegiance was said by the board and those present at the meeting. Bob Burleson said the prayer, the official Oath of Office pages were signed by the commission members then by Judge Bentley after which, the spectators applauded and chairman Byrd called for a vote to close the meeting. The board exchanged congratulations and pleasantries. The meeting was concluded.
